Creating spectacular entertainment is nothing new in Las Vegas, but designing a one-of-a-kind zipline that would go across 1,700 feet with only a slight decline was a real challenge.  It required imaginative thinking, technology and financing.

That’s when Fremont Street Experience turned to its banker, Bill Paredes.  Bank of Nevada provided financing that allowed the $11 million project to get off the ground on time so that all the subsequent milestones could be met.jeff victor slotzilla

The new zipline attraction is named "SlotZilla" as a tribute to the deep gaming roots of downtown Las Vegas.  The 120-foot-high takeoff tower will be transformed into the World's Largest Slot Machine.  Riders will actually "be the jackpot" and exit the slot machine through the pay table and coin tray.

SlotZilla was specially designed for Fremont Street Experience and features a first-of-its-kind propulsion launch system which propels the rider from the upper platform at speeds of 35 mph, as well as a proprietary braking system, giving riders a smooth landing to the ride.  SlotZilla combines innovative technology with a dynamic themed concept to transcend a traditional zipline ride into a ground-breaking attraction for the amusement industry.

Riders on the upper Zoomline will be launched lying flat in harnesses and fly 1,700 feet under the Fremont Street Experience canopy landing on a new stage at Main Street.  Riders on the lower zipline will take off about 70 feet above ground level and land mid-way down the Fremont Street Experience – landing near Casino Center.  Both levels deliver a ride experience unique to Las Vegas and the world – flying above thousands of people on Fremont Street Experience and under the Viva Vision canopy, which is the world's largest video screen.

“We tested it in a field in Utah and I can tell you, it’s really a thrill,” said Jeff Victor, President and General Manager of Fremont Street Experience.  “Bank of Nevada and Bill Paredes understood the vision and viability of this project, and helped make it a reality.”

The attraction, which is expected to be a major draw for the Fremont Street Experience and the surrounding downtown Las Vegas area that is in the midst of a comprehensive makeover, is going up almost as fast. Construction started in January and is expected to open in summer 2013 when Fremont Street Experience will be packed with visitors.

Locals and visitors will not want to miss this iconic new attraction, a thrilling experience for zipline riders and a one-of-a-kind photo op for those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground.
